This morning I went to check the weather radar on my Garmin Bluecharts and got a prompt to purchase it. I don't know if anyone recalls, but originally you could purchase radar for $2.99 and there were no time constraints. I called Garmin to ask what was going on. I was told, "Oh, with the new update you have to pay annually for the radar." It is $30 annually. I asked why they are not honoring the original offer, which did not have a time restriction. The answer was not acceptable to me. They said that they have to pay more for the service and have changed their fee structure. I can accept that, but what about your old loyal customers that bought the service without mention of a time limitation. A bit of silence and then the same answer as before.
Too bad Garmin does not see the value of honoring loyal customer purchases made before policy change. I did when I was in business. Shame on you Garmin!

The water bill on my vacation home just more than doubled because the water company decided to classify it as commercial rather than residential after almost ten years of ownership. It happens.

Mike: Can you revert (backout) to your previous Garmin update. Your descriptions seems to imply the extra fee policy is tied in with the latest update.... just a thought. 🙂

I think it updates aromatically. It is not necessarily the cost, but the arbitrary change with no warning or explanation. i can see charging, but they should honor their original clients purchases.
