Many R27 and R25 “Classic” owners have removed the “office” chair in the mid-birth (cave) to better utilize this area for storage space, as we did long ago. Now, I’m also looking to remove the entire teak “desk” that is fixed to the aft bulkhead within the cave. There is no obvious way that this unit is attached, as all adjacent surfaces are covered in the mouse-fur liner and I don’t detect any evident screws, brackets, or other mounting points. I don’t want to butcher this in case we ever want to replace, i.e., for a potential resale we could put it back. Does anyone have experience in removing this who could share some advice?

I removed my chair, but not the desk, since we use it. I suspect the desk is attacked similarly as the chair support. It was screwed in through the hull liner from the opposite side. You may be able to get a pry bar between the wood and fur and basically try to strip the screws holding into the wood or perhaps that area has the screws coming through from the switch lazzarette in the cockpit.
Sorry not a definitive answer, but some ideas.

I removed the chair as well. I took the hinges off the desk and remounted the flip up part permanently as a shelf (things kept getting hung up on the hinges). I moved the coat rack to the space below the desk. I wanted to move the shelf up higher but as you found removing it looked difficult so I just incorporated it into my plan as is.

I was also unable to remove the mouse fur covered wood block the chair hinge was mounted to. If you have any ideas on how to do that without destroying the liner I’m interested!
