Do You Mount Your Type IV PFD

I come from the sailing community where most sailors have a lifesling mounted on the railing. With a Range Tug (that requires the Type IV throwable PFD), what do you do? Do you just keep a seat cushion handy in the cockpit or do you mount a ring or horseshoe buoy somewhere? I don't remember seeing any pictures of an RT with a lifesling mounted in the cockpit.

We have ours hung on the "hooks" that hold the cockpit pads around the side. I'm not sure if other boats besides the outboards have the same arrangement though.

We used Command Strip brand hooks mounted on the bulkhead in the cockpit to hang a seat cushion. Still considering a Lifesling, but since we spend so little time moving around on deck compared to a sailboat, the chances of a crewmember falling overboard are much lower.

I used to have a life sling mounted on the swimstep rail. Be aware, however; you need a way to pull the victim in, and ithat method needs to be mounted high above the water. I took a life sling class that was eye opening!

It is worth while to practice! Tie up next to a dock, have the MOB “victim” lay on the dock, and practice using your preferred hauling equipment to pull him/her into the boat. Up here in the Pacific Northwest, it would be assumed that the cold water would render the MOB unable to assist him/herself into the boat.
