I have a congenital fear of getting a line in the prop, and looked for a good solution. I found these "button hangers" online, originally at Lats and Atts, but now other online places as well. They work very well and serve to keep the lines not only handy, but up off the deck. I also added cam cleats for the midship lines for an added measure of security. That way, the line hanger is not the only thing keeping the line from going overside. The cam cleats were added to the quarter lines for the same purpose, and also serve as quick (but not long-term) fender hangers. The button hangers are adhesive and have been on Nellie May I for three years without failure. The cam cleats were thru bolted with backing plates.
