Hi All:

I'm going to buy a Ranger Tug (R-29 or R-31) and am looking for the right one used. Are there any recent buyers who might have a marine survey for their purchase that could be shared? It would be good to familiarize myself with common issues with Ranger Tugs.

Apparently marine surveys can also have variable quality and it would be good to know the difference.

Any advice on this front would be appreciated. It would also be great to hear your buying stories.

Thanks,
Daryll.

Hey Daryll,

We just bought our 2016 R27 a couple months ago. We had a survey done, and also an engine survey by a Volvo mechanic. PM me your Email address and I can share those with you.

My advice, find a surveyor who knows Ranger tugs intimately. There are some quirks on how these boats are put together that may not be commonplace. In our case, we were reasonably satisfied with the survey, but after getting to know the boat and doing some maintenance and repairs myself, I realize the surveyor perhaps should have gone a little deeper in his inspections.

We just bought our boat a few months ago (2017 R31 CB). Had a great experience with Edgewater Yacht Sales/Modern Tugs in Pensacola florida. Had a surveyor who had done several Ranger tugs. I'm happy to share my survey with you.

As you proceed with your search, I suggest that you plan on traveling to find the boat you want. We are in Baltimore, but we found our boat in Florida. There are changes in design features throughout the years, and we found that having a wide-field search was the only way to get what we wanted. Happy to share more. Feel free to email or give me a call.
