Does the AC/Rev. cycle heat use the same amount of power?

Add this to my list of stupid questions:

On the R29...I realize you can't really run the A/C via the inverter as it uses too much power.(would need generator or shore power)...would using the heating function of this unit use the same amount of power as the A/C function does?

I would say the system does use the same amount of power whether in A/C mode or Heating mode. The only difference I know of is there is reversing valve that does what the name implies, pumps the gas in the opposite direction but the compressor still runs and the fan still blows.

Karl, you are correct. Same process, different flow of the refrigerant so same /similar electrical usage.
