I have a dock diving Golden Doodle that loves to jump off the boat. Unfortunately, she does this when she shouldn't - like out in the ocean while under way. (working on this problem). When stopped, she will jump off over and over. That said, I needed a ladder that she could use without assistance. I also didn't want the ladder to interfere with carrying the inflatable across the stern. Here is what I came up with.

I assume that you do not have a dinghy on davits on the swim platform. I also have a 80 lb. Goldendoodle but I don't have the diving problem. I am trying to figure out a auxiliary ladder for both he and my wife and I that we can use while Boaterhoming that is more stable than the factory pull down ladder.

Anyone have other suggestions?

Thanks,
Ken

Ken,
I do have a dingy that hangs across the back on davits. Look closely at the picture and notice that the ladder fits vertically between the railing opening and does not interfere with the dingy when loaded across the back.

What materiel did you use to make the ladder from? It’s a really great design. Do you have the pattern or measurements for the side parts?

I would also appreciate knowing if you could share the plans and advice on the material, etc.

Regards,

Ken

Where did you buy this ladder? We need one just like it, but we can not find it.

Thanks

Looks like something that would be built quite easily.

As requested, here is a plan view to make the ladder. https://www.mediafire.com/view/96rp3ow2dc2oqo1/Dog_Ladder_Plan.jpg/fileThe ladder is made out of PVC from Lowes. The two sides can be cut out of a 1 X 12 X 4ft. piece of PVC. The steps are made from 1 X 4 PVC. Fasteners are SS trim screws. The width of the ladder is determined by the width between your transom uprights. The chain that goes across the transom railing opening keeps the ladder from deploying. I added additional clips on each side of the ladder to keep the ladder from falling toward the boat. On the bottom of the ladder there are bolts that act as a hinge. I put a piece of line around them to keep them in place. Simple arrangement, but it works well. See photo.

Don't know if others having trouble printing the full layout. Part of the right and left ends are cut off. Any suggestions on how to print the full image?

When you click on the hyper link, you are taken to a site that host the plan view in higher definition (Tugnuts doesn't provide enough). When you click on the image it will zoom in. You can see good details. When you click again, you zoom out and can see the total image, but the resolution isn't as good.
Hope this helps.
