So, a while back I read a post on Tug Nuts about adding a cockpit table to my Ranger Tug 21EC. All the post said was that the owner added a mount to the bilge door. So, I went about assembling the materials and installing the table. Here’s a photo of the finished project.

Here's a photo of the base. The support screws into the flush base plate - it's easy to remove for fishing!

The table kit is by Todd Enterprises. I purchased it from Defender. I do not receive any benefit from mentioning these companies - it's just where I got the parts. I prepared a .pdf of instructions, with photos, but don't know how to attach it to a post. You can tell me how to do that or I can send the instructions to you by email.

Hello Mike,

That's a VERY nice mod! I bought a pedestal assembly a year or so ago and installed the base in the bilge door but never got around to making the table top. Could you tell me the diameter of the opening in the underside of the table. Im curious if it would fit on the leg I already have.

Thanks!

Hi Dave .. is the engine box shorter in the EC than the Classic, with the bilge hatch in the deck making up the difference in access ? was the engine box moved back to keep the clearance between the cabin door and the front of the box ? .. if that's the case, is the engine mounted differently in the EC to accommodate the larger cabin ? .. suddenly struck me that you can't have a bigger cabin without some changes with the box or under the box ... Hello Rob

The ECs engine box is shorter than in the 21 classic due to the fuel tanks being located under the aft seat rather than under the engine box.. I cannot comment on the location of the engine from a fore /aft standpoint. I suspect the engine is mounted in the same location but cannot confirm that. The 21EC has a small hatch in the sole for access to the stuffing box and bilge pump mechanicals.

Dave - Sure, I'll measure the diameter of the post fitting under the table this weekend and let you know.

If you have the cockpit Carpet Runner - Teak & Holly the floor pole attachment will interfere with the carpet. I guess a stitched protected hole in the carpet can be made to resolve this.... just a thought.

It look good and professional and 4 more cup holders... 😱

The one issue to be aware of with the stock cockpit table that attaches to the rear vertical surface of the engine box is that any drinks etc on the table would be disturbed if the engine box were to be inadvertently raised...
