I have a ranger 27 with the standard Yanmar 4BY2-180 engine. It has been running beautifully until the last time out when the engine warning light came on (accompanied by the ear-piercing audio alarm) at 4000 RPM. Oil pressure seemed normal at 73 PSI as did engine temperature at 197 F. The engine sounded fine and there was no obvious signs of any distress. I throttled back, shut the engine down and restarted it. The warning light did not go back on until I again reached 4000 RPM. All guages were normal and there was no evidence of distress. I repeated this procedure a few times and everytime I hit 4000 RPM the alarm mysteriously went off. The only message on the engine data screen was "check engine". Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
