Hello. I have a 2009 R25 classic with a cummins 2.0. My boat is on a trailer and I frequently have it in salt water. How do I flush the engine after salt water use?
Thank you,
Kevin

When the boat is out of the water, close the seacock, remove the sea strainer lid, and put a hose in the strainer bowl. Use a bungee to hold it in place. Turn the water on and let it run to overfilling and check that the bilge pump comes on (just an added item covered). Start the boat and check for water out the exhaust. Reverse the process when complete but keep the seacock closed to keep the pump primed for next startup. It’s also a good idea to wash down the whole engine room (especially around the transmission and engine mounts) with fresh water to wash off any salt spray/mist from the shaft.

What Curt said but I’d add a final step - pulling the drain plug and rinsing the bilge a second time with fresh water. Doing so with the drain plug out will get additional salt water out that the bilge pump won’t.
When storing the boat on the trailer trailer be sure the bow is high so any rain water will get out through the scuppers or the drain plug hole.
