On occasion, when I look at my engine gages on the Garmin, they all read zero. It doesn’t happen all the time. Not sure if it has anything to do with what order I turn on the Garmin vs starting engine.

When it happens, I turn off everything including the engine and start over. The problem goes away.

Any thoughts on why this happens?

Just a guess! Do you have a current Garmin software update on your chart plotter? I have in the past ( one time ) Had an issue when running I would loose all Garmin information. I power down the unit, turn house battery off, back on, (at the dock) and it works fine again. I called Garmin and the first step was to do an update. I questioned this. The technician told me many times there is a slight glitch in the software that cause strange things to happen to the plotters operation. The software updates normally fix these issues. I took his word for it and now I update when ever a new update is available. I have very little knowledge of the software technology so I take their word.

Check all connections at the backbone, Volvo module and at the plotter.

Hi, We too had this issue with our new C 28. It turns out that the electronics must be brought up in a certain order so that the Garmin can properly establish communication with the engine. This is what we do now: turn on Garmin plotter, turn on Garmin autopilot, use your key fob to turn on the ignition (but don't nee to start engine). You should be able to see your engine gauges. Hope this helps! Best wishes.

Thank you! I’ll try this.
