I am sure many of you have some issues with the efficiency of the seals around the engine hatch and the lazarettes. I bit the bullet today and removed the seals around the engine hatch. Instead of putting the seal on the hatch I adhered them to to gutter. The seal I purchased from Home Depot and it is made for marine and auto use. It is made by MD 5/16 X 19/32 X 10' long. It bends nicely around the corners. I made two seams in the middle of the short sides aft and forward. Granted, being on the gutter than the lid one must be careful when working around the engine, but this seems like it makes a sure fire seal. I tightened the latches also so that when I turn them to lock I stand on the lid so the seals are dead tight. Time will tell to see how they hold up.
