I am probably just overlooking it but where is the engine hours meter on the R21EC (2012). I have a picture of the tac but it does not appear to have a hours meter. Under the tac guage is a window that says fuel Rate but no hours meter. In any case that doesn't show anything. I understand an hours meter works by voltage to the start switch, I am assuming if the start switch is on the engine is normally running.
Any help is appreciated.

The LED window has scroll feature buttons just below it. You switch screens by pressing the right button. Depending on the engine, you may get coolant temp , backlight brightness, oil pressure, battery voltages and engine hours. Refer to the Yanmar Op Manual...... gives good hints if the buttons are not intuitive for you.

Also note that if the screen goes totally blank at some point, do not be surprised....common illness on both Volvo Penta and Yanmar panels......some brave souls do a fix to the ribbon lead/wiring behind the LED ....most just buy a stand alone engine hour meter instead. Vibration engine hour meters are quick, cheap, and no wiring needed.

Thank you - window is blank. Just ordered a meter from West Marine.
Next up is a fuel gauge stuck on 0.
Just as a side note - it seems that for something made to be used in what can be the harshest conditions
things break down real quick in a quiet marina on a non threatening inland lake.

Yep.....it's a boat. Boats live with water and humidity......both of which are a key nemesis of electrical components. I have a friend who keeps an expensive spare chart plotter in a sealed case onboard........does not want to repeat a previous bad experience.....I keep a handheld....overkill ?......not with electronics....
