Hello Tugnutters,
I’m ordering the RIB 290 CSM/Hypalon inflatable thru Ranger for my 31-CB that is being built. I need to know the transom height on this inflatable in order to purchase the right Spirit 1.0 outboard. I’m not sure if I need the short or extra short shaft. I can’t Find transom height in the specs. Thanks in advance!
Todd

I have the short and wish I’d gone with X-short. It’s difficult to beach with the short

Hi Gary, Do you have the RIB 290 CSM/Hypalon that Ranger recommends?
Thanks,
Todd

Hi Todd,
Yes, I have the 2021 Ranger RIB 290.

Hello! I have the same question, but for a RIB 260 that I'm getting with my R-27. Given it's smaller (is it?) I'm assuming I'd do well to get the x-small as well? Anyone know for sure?

Appreciate any advice!
Thanks.

I’m in Elliott Bay if you want to take a look at the short shaft to be sure.

My local ePropulsion dealer only carries the Short and Long shaft versions.
He said that some clients with the Extra Short shaft had the prop coming out of the water when the dinghy was loaded heavy in front.
On the other hand, how hard is it to make sure you are not heavily loaded in front?
This may have just been a convenient rationale to limit his inventory options.

We have the e propulsion short shaft on a 6'6" inflatable. There is a spring loaded pin that locks the lever that normally holds the motor down in the up or release position. When you beach the boat the motor is free to kick up.

Same question. Which did you end up getting?

thanks

We have the short version of epropelsion. If beaching it is a little long but I’m guessing the x short May have more cavitation. When at 3/4-full throttle it does suck air down at times and make a noise like you hit something but I have figured out it is tiny bit of cavitation. We have the factory RT 290. It does almost 5 mph with 2 people in it.
