Hi All, Thanks to this forum we have been learning all about maintenance of our boat, what to look for and to expect and how to handle maintenance. Ours was a well maintained boat but like all boats, maintenance is ongoing due to preventative maintenance playing a huge part in overall maintenance.
We wanted to let anyone new to maintenance know that at 250 hours we had to change out our 30 HP Yanmar exhaust elbow due to excessive carbon buildup. It's not good to have such buildup because it could allow water to get back into the engine which can throw a rod- Not something you want happening in a watery wilderness, especially if a small craft advisory hits. Fortunately I have a husband who likes to stay on top of things mechanically and so he checked this out after advice given on this and other sites- Thank you!
