Go to the below web site to see exploded views of the QSD 150 engine with Mercury parts numbers and prices. You will see some veerry expensive CMD parts! How about $798.07 for the non functional black plastic cover that goes on top of engine, $449.59 for the raw water pump impeller repair kit, $476.01 for the fuel filter, $69.16 for a paper oil filter. You would think you were buying parts for a Rolls Royce engine. Glad I'm using a Racor 2 micron filter, a replacement fuel injector cost $1,245.10...

I sure hope Cummins N.W. is willing to work with us on these parts, that serpentine belt that is recomended as extra parts to carry around is $600.71 - major price gouging...

😉 woww, as i have paid a lot of attention to all of the posts regarding the cummings 150 ;;;having at first thought of possibly trading up at some point in time[ there is no substitute for horsepower] my 110 yanmar is really looking good,, are the tradeoffs worth it??? capt d, whaddaya think,,, you already know i ain't gotaclue,, steve

That engine have a timing belt, whats the life expectancy of such an item? Seems like a very complex engine.

Those prices would be enough for me to avoid that engine, no matter how fast it made the R25 go. They are ridiculous, even by marine standards.

Just for curiousity, I added up all the parts for the alternator and camshaft shown on the diagrams. Came to over $19K. 😱 Lots to go, not sure my calculator goes that high.

I wonder what the list price for the complete engine is? Must be cheaper to buy an engine than all of the parts.

Dave

I think I'm gonna buy a few and sell them to you guys for parts at half price!!

Charlie

That's less than a set of spares for the alternator and camshaft system! :!:

Someone is making a bunch of money!!

Although, I seem to remember that an automobile is the same, if you bought all the parts for one it would cost a heckuva lot more than buying one complete and assembled.

Steve, If I had a good running 110 Yanmar, I would not upgrade. I don't believe I am getting that much extra speed. Full of fuel , water and ready to travel "loaded". I'm still at 15 miles an hour. I'm happy with that, but it sounds like the 110 works about as well. Mis Dee had the 125.

My GPS shows me running at 14 mph with the 110 Yanmar. (WOT) It has been a great motor giving us no trouble in over 200 hours. We prefer to cruise at 1800 rpm which gives us about 7 MPH. At this speed we burn about a half gallon per hour.
