What recommendations are there for changing an exterior cabin color? Specifically, we've seen several Ranger Tugs with the brown/beige stripe around the cabin either white or navy. What are the options for, and downsides (so to speak) of changing that color?

I'm interested in this, too. It seems the new tugs (I just saw some up at Winter Yachts in Salem, MA) have a much brighter cabin stripe, unless mine has faded. I suspect the color is not painted, but within the gel coat which would then make it a hassle to re-do.

The color of the "stripe" has evolved since the begginning of Ranger Tugs. They were initially a light stripe and then took on an "orange" glow for a short period. Now they are a more brown..... Sunshine, a R-25 in Des Moines has a yellow stripe.

We had the light stripe on our R-25, Solitude. On Karma we chose to go with no stripe. We prefer the look of the "no stripe" with the yellow hull we chose for Karma. We liked the light stripe with the Claret Red on Solitude.

As Jerry mentioned, the stripe is colored gel coat applied during construction. It can be changed with good results by using a good marine paint and someone that knows what they are doing.

As with the color of the hull, it is a matter of what you like. For the right price, I am sure that you could get whatever color of stripe you would like.
