Anyone mount any exterior Rod holders on the R-25 (or other RT)? Looking for any recommendations on Rail mounts or other mounts to hold Fishing Rods and Nets!

If a Cutwater is close enough, I just attached a couple of stainless steel rod mounts to the swim platform rails on our C28. When i got them Fluid Motion was still handling parts so I just ordered from them, but they are very easy to find online.

I have two rod holders on the grab rail on each side.

Like Eachtra 27, we run two stainless "rocket launcher"-type holders on each side of the bimini frame of our R27. These holders work well for getting rods, nets, and our downrigger leash retrievers out of the way when we're under way, docked, or at anchor.

If you're asking about rod holders to use while fishing, I installed Burnewiin sockets where the factory rod holders were and use Burnewiin holders. The net hangs out on the swim step staple where it's easy to get to.

That's great! What style/brand of Rocket Launcher holders are you using?

Manifish from Amazon, about $40 each. Cheap and work well.

If you are just looking to get rods and nets out of the way, I use a SeaSucker 3-rod holder. Rods go straight up so I don't worry about them when docking.

Amarine Made from Amazon.

I sought this model out because the rail clamp is welded to the lower end of the tube, keeping the holder higher on the bimini frame and out of the way. I mounted the rod holders aligned with the bimini supports/handrails so their pretty unobtrusive but still really functional.

Thank you!

I love the modified post attached to the ski pylon. How did you do that?

Besides the rocket launchers, I hang them while in motion or at any time. Got them at Amazon

It's made out of various standard PVC fittings.

The stainless rear stanchions on our R27OB are installed so that they are removable so we could get them out of the way when fishing. The bimini top will support itself without the rear stanchions. We fished it that way for about a year.

When we bought a Takacat dinghy and started carrying it up on the bimini, I needed a way to support the additional weight. The ski pylon seemed to be an obvious place to connect some sort of detachable support so that it could all easily go back to stock when we're not fishing. I mocked up a prototype in PVC, intending to have it fabricated out of aluminum or stainless after I got it dialed-in. That was nearly five years ago and we're still using that same PVC prototype because it has worked so well. Here's a closer view:

You can see the factory stanchions laying on the gunwale in the background and the quick-release pin attached to the corner of the bimini frame that allows them to be removed. The factory stanchions snap into holders under the starboard gunwale when they're removed. When they're back in place holding up the bimini, the PVC post stores in the starboard lazarette and the ski pylon gets retracted. Life is a lot easier, especially with new fishers, without those stanchions in the way. Fire away if you have any questions about the setup.

Incredibly ingenious 🙂. Thanks for the info. Nice to have so many options as to how the Bimini is setup.

It depends a lot on what kinds of fishing and rods you'll be using. I go with high end models like Taco Rod Holder that has 4 bolts. However, I'm fishing everything from lightweight salmon trolling rods to 130 lbs. test Bluefin Tuna rods.
