We have a 2014 R-27 and under the starboard step there is a white vertical hatch cover I was loading some items in there for an upcoming trip and noticed two # 10 gauge wires just hanging there cut no wire nuts or anything just two cut wires hanging. Anyone have any idea what these might be for? I wonder where the opposite ends are?

They are for powering a downrigger. You should have another pair in the battery compartment.

I used the pair in the battery compartment to power a 12V socket in the cockpit.

Thank you. Are the other end of these wires under the starboard step in the battery compartment? Or do they run up to the 12vdc panel? Thanks again.

On my R27 each set of wires terminate on a fuse block in the port side cockpit locker (GenSet compartment). They are labeled port down rigger and starboard down rigger. Each one has its own fuse.
