Hi all,

Our Tugnuts Photo Contest is back for February! If you're not familiar with the contest, we're giving away a pair of Ranger Tugs and Cutwater Jackets. All you need to do to enter is, send us a photo and description or story, corresponding to this month's theme.

The theme for February is: What do you LOVE about your boat? It could be a feature, a memorable trip or experience, just the way it looks, or anything else related to what you enjoy about your Ranger Tug or Cutwater.

To enter, please send your photo and description to briandickhaut@rangertugs.com

The contest is open until 11:59 AM PST, Sunday 2-28-2021.

Thank you!

"Where to begin...after 15 years of boating with a SeaSport we upgraded to a R29 so I guess first we love the extra space, the overall beauty of the boat, the thought put into the creature comforts that you find in much larger boats. The way the boat handles in the waters of the San Juan Islands.
With the climate changes we have experienced the last few years we have had some huge windstorms that if the boat was moored at an outdoor marina I would have constantly had to go down and check on it. With it’s size we were able to keep out marina spot at Twin Bridges that allows us to pull the boat after each use, put it on outside bunks to clean and flush the engine and then store it inside with heated storage. This saves us from having to winterize the boat and protects the boat. Any bigger boat and we would have to store it outside and smaller we would have to give up the creature comforts we have become accustomed too!"

"What we love about our Ranger Tug R29 Classic is that we can go anywhere with it. Last winter we left Southport, NC and took her down the ICW to Marathon FL. Front there we crossed the Florida Bay and proceeded up the SW coast of FL to Tarpon Springs. Then returned to Southport via Lake Okeechobee and up the ICW. And as a bonus we attended our first rendezvous in Punta Gorda. Nothing beats a Ranger Tug for economy, flexibility, comfort and reliability."

"Enjoying sundowners on our first family overnight cruise. There’s lots that we love about our boat (the looks, the amenities, ease of operation, etc) but what we love most all is the ability to spend quality family time together, doing something that also teaches the kids responsibilities and skills."

"Our 2016 R-29S allows us to comfortably access the beauty and solitude of Prince William Sound, Alaska. This picture was taken in the southwest corner of Blackstone Bay."

"A painting from a photo of us on our American Great Loop Trip in our Cutwater 26. This painting was done by a dad (90+years old) of a friend to commemorate our awesome trip. We would not have wanted to do the trip on anything but our Cutwater 26. We loved everything about the boat and we were told many times by lock masters that we were “doing it right” in our little boat!!"

"Love those big south-facing windows (at least in this slip) so we can keep an eye out for Spring and open water."

"There are many things I love about my R31 (including its good looks, functional interior, cruising comfort, and seaworthiness). But if I’m limited to one, it is how well well setup our R31 is for single-handing due to the combination of the starboard helm door and the aft helm station, both of which are shown in the attached photo.

I took this photo after coming into a guest dock at a local yacht club. The docking situation looked a bit tricky. The river current flows parallel to the dock, was running at about 4-5 knots from behind me when I came in. There was no one around to help at the dock. The landing area was the same length as my boat, so not much margin for error. As I neared the dock, I switched to the aft helm station where I was able to set an aft stern spring line and use it to pin the boat against the dock without getting off. Once pinned, I got off, set the other lines, and took the boat out of idle gear. I couldn’t have pulled that off without the aft helm station.

The ability to single-hand the boat lets me go out at times the first mate isn’t available, or I have inexperienced crew aboard, or if I am doing some work on the boat alone and simply want to spontaneously go out and enjoy some nice weather. It maximizes both my safety and my enjoyment, and I definitely count it as one of the things I love most about my R31."
