Roam and Illusions are buddy boating down the Shark River and then the Wilderness Waterway to Flamingo, in the Everglades. After Docking a woman asked my wife where did we come from. My wife told he from where and the woman replied, "Oh, I am surprised, because we don't get any private yachts here". Finally someone who saw us as we really are and not cute!

I think this deserves a new word. Decutify - The process of making something absolutely adorable less cute.

Here are the steps I've taken so far:

1) choose a crass boat name (Chilidog)

2) add tires

3) add camouflage

4) stack fuel cans on bow

I'm looking for additional ideas as my GF says I'm not making any headway.

How about adding the woven mat on the bow like the big brother tugs?

I was going up the Sacramento River (in my C-Dory) when I ran across a boat/barge. The young men aboard had shaved heads the boat was painted black and had some kind of pirate flag. I had the impression that they were armed and had been drinking. I tried to stay far away but they still seemed offended by my presence and flipped me off. Several aggresive respones ran through my head but self-preservation kicked in and I went on my way.

They were about as non-cute as you can get, in my opinion. Sooo black paint or a pirate flag are my suggestions 😉

I had thought about hull paint. I would have had it faux painted to appear as if it was rusting out, but I didn't want to mess up the gel coat.

Shaving my head and flipping off other boaters is doable though.

I may have seen Roam and Illusions heading out the pass a couple days ago on the Barron River, in Everglades.... One Red and one White hull? The wife and I were drinking coffee on the porch, when I commented to her. " oh look! There goes a Ranger Tug out the river"..... Then to my surprise there were two....

Yep, that was us. Roam is the red one and mine is Laureen Green. Stayed at the class "A" RV trailer park down the end of the river for a couple of days. Today we will start making our way to Marathon.

That's funny Mike, we had a similar experience in Flamingo. I don't remember what the comment was, but were surprised to see us there. Were the 'man eating' flies out yet??? We were there in April and those darn thing were aggressive and mean!!! Have fun, hello to Jess, Cheryll, and Rich(or Phil), just kidding, I know it's Rich🙂

Mike, your truck is still there but slowly turning yellow as we have been having a major pollen attack this past week.
Decks are yellow every morning. Not as bad this morning so we may be coming out the other side.

In other news both of my Pico Arm Chairs suffered structural failure within 2 weeks of each other. They have sent me different model of chair as warranty replacement. Apparently the Saturday donuts caused an overload.

The marina clamped down on the Saturday beer as we had about 150 drunks partying-on after the band quit, hanky lanky in the hot tub, blasting out music, etc. The manager at the condo rolled Tim out of bed and demanded he get back here. Now there is a keg up on the deck at the office and you have to climb the steps to get your own beer and so they can see who you are. I wonder what the beer bill from the restaurant was for that one. Herds of people milling around the pool and nobody I recognized.

A SeaRay 52 from the long term basin went aground at speed. Had to be lifted off with air bags and is now up on blocks sans props and rudders.
See all the fun you are missing by going cruising. I bet you are right now, speechless.

Cheers, eh wot

Our new to us 2009 25 Classic in the water this weekend. Must have had over a dozen "cute boat" comments, over Saturday and sunday. The other comment was what do you do with a boat like that. Having fun in Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard CA

The proper answer: "Anything we want. Anything a bigger boat can do and lots that it can't!"
