first maintenance

Hello,

I have a new 2021 R25 and approaching 15 hours. I was informed by the dealership to replace the water pump along with the fluids. Does this sound right? I would assume to replace the impellor but is it necessary to replace the whole pump? This does not make sense to me. Boat has Yamaha 250.

You’re right. The water pump should not need replacement but the impeller does. I think Yamaha also recommends changing the engine oil (oil filter should be fine) and the lower gear oil. All of these services are DIY if you choose to do so.

Yes, I do plan to replace the fluids as well. Thanks so much for getting back to me

The 20 hour service is usually an oil change and inspection of bolt tightening. There is no reason the water pump or imeller need to be changed.

I agree with knotflying. No need got replace the impeller. I used partsvu.com for my 20 hour service. They have the complete kit with all the OEM parts required for the 20 hour service for a good price.
