We have a new C302 and discovered that the fish box in the cockpit on the port side does not seal and accumulates water easily. It is not self-draining and requires us to engage a pump to drain. We will not use it as a fish box, and since it does not seal (due to the current design) it is not conducive to use as a cooler or as dry storage. Is there an alternative configuration - can we pull the fish box out and configure it more like the storage on the starboard side which houses the inverter?

Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks!

I take delivery of a new C302 in a few days and have similar questions about fish storage. Generally, I'm thinking the CW is not like a Grady White or dedicated fishing boat and I'll need to improvise. I have a 128g cooler/cushion seat with wheels that works well on my other boat. I'll only have a problem with albacore since we may have 400lbs.+ to carry.

Hi,

You can pull the fish box, the only thing that you would have to disconnect is the hose for the pump. This is accessible through the center aft cockpit hatch, under the BBQ. You would then need to have a hatch made to cover the compartment.

Feel free to email me if you have anymore questions!

I have a similar problem on my 302. I've been told the hatch on the port cockpit side of the Cutwater 30 Sedan will fit. Is that true? Can the fish box be removed and the C30S hatch installed? Thanks
