You know what I love about the boating world?
The people. We have just spent 2 days with the most delightful group of boaters EVER!
Thank you Bob and Nita for organizing a wonderful weekend at Fisherman's Terminal. It was a huge success!!! Thank you Dave and Maureen for Friday nights amazing dinner... I love that even though you no longer have a tug you continue to grace us with your bounty of food and hospitality.

As many of you know Lyman and I are boatless (yes, boatless in Seattle). It's encouraging to come to the 'tug' events to reconnect with our boating family.. so many memories have been made with many of you. We certainly don't want to every lose that connection, you are a special group of friends! Regardless of what kind of boat we end up with it's good to know that we will be welcome!

Sorry we missed the Zuma crew and all of you. We enjoyed a call from Nita just as the photo scavenger hunt ended.

But we did send your regards to Shipwreck Beach. No, I didn't jump.

Aloha from Poipu

So good to see you both there! Be sure to keep in touch. You will always be friends of ours regardless of the boat you choose.

And always welcome among the tugs and at our events as Tugnuts emeritus as well as all former Tugnuts friends. And on this forum. Ranger Tugs have built a community to which our friends are friends even when they move on to other boats!!

Yes, thank you Bob and Nita for organizing this Fisherman's Terminal gathering, and David and Maureen for the wonderful dinner and friendship that Janeane described!

We have had a delightful time here with approximately 25 boats as well as Gini and Colleen who are about to get their new Ranger 27 and Janeane and Lyman, who had their Ranger 29 for a number of years and are currently boatless. It's been relaxing and fun with lots of visiting, delicious food, and scavenger hunts.

We are a fun and varied group sharing a love of boating. We met aboard our Ranger Tugs and Cutwaters and some of us are moving to bigger boats. For me, a single liveaboard, I have recently moved to a 29 Ranger. Whatever boat we may have or may (or may not) move to, we look forward to more great times together as we say goodbye to each other for now, with promises to connect again on the water!

Karyn and I want to thank those who attended the Fisherman's weekend. We had not planned to go there but at the last minute launched the boat on the south end of Lk Wash. We had to be back Sat morn and planned a stay overnite at Andrew's Bay. Pulled into Fisherman's dock just to see how many attended and look at the way other boats had been customized (bought our boat in Feb - 25SC). Once at the dock we could not get away and were "forced" to attend the evening feast!! Thanks to all and wasn't that cheese cake smothered with chocolate and strawberry syrup "over the top"!!

Let me also say that Gill and I had a wonderful time seeing old and new TugNut friends. I always like the Fisherman's Terminal as it's but a short hop and skip down from Edmonds plus Fisherman's has so much going on at this time of year. The photo scavenger hunt that Bruce/Vicki setup for us wore Jake and me out tramping ALL around the Terminal. It was fascinating and Bruce/Vicki must tell us where the heck was "HATS" with the green background. Gill was convinced it was on Moondance just to tease us... I had the chance to get Gill out into the fresh air and she found at least 5 images that I had failed to find on my own... 😉

One fisherman working on netting had these wooden rope spools that could be improvised and modified some to make a very nice stern tie spooling device. The fisherman said to take them and all 3 of them and I placed them alongside LAXEY where people could simply take them. Herb came along later with yet another one.

I really appreciated Joe and Dan helping up through the locks (coming and going). No matter what others may say, I maintain having a second pair of hands ensures a problem free passage through the locks.

TugBug (a new R-21EC with Volvo engine delivered the day before we went down to Fisherman's) cruised with us for their first time on the open waters. They seem to enjoy themselves along with Titan onboard. I always knew which side of their boat Titan was laying as the boat listed slightly one way or the other when I looked back at them following us. 😉

Lastly, many thanks to Nita & Bob for putting this meeting together and Maureen & David for providing a great feast for us on Friday evening. I think Nita toward the 'end of the day' awarding winners for the Photo and Lake Washington scavenger hunts was beginning to get a little rummy from all her hard work and Gill was getting quite concerned for her... Nita's exciting dancing drum rolls and desperately saying we all must take home some stripped chicken did make me laugh.

It was amazing that Bob&Nita were able to collect so many prizes to hand out... everybody got at least two quite likely.

Thanks to all for the friendship and the good time we had this past weekend.

Gill & Barry

Thank you again Bob and Nita for all of your hard work in putting together a great fun weekend! There's nothing better than hanging out with boater friends - those that still own Rangers, those that have moved to other boats, and those that are currently boat less. . . .

And thank you David and Maureen for the yummy food for Friday night. I think people were still eating some of it on Sunday night!

It was an exciting weekend for us. As some of you know, we bought Tradition, a beautiful well loved and cared for 29 ft Ranger, from Marcus and Jorge. John and I couldn't be happier and are SO excited about her. After an appropriate naming ceremony, complete with some alcohol, we will rename her Andiamo - Italian for let's go! The inspiration for the name came last fall while traveling in Europe. . . . I think it just fits her perfectly.

So yes the Laurie Ann will be for sale. We have an interested party right now, but if that doesn't work out, we'll advertise her here on Tugnuts soon.

Thanks again to everyone who made the weekend at Fisherman's so special.

Laurie

Bob and Nita, thanks from us too for inviting us to join the festivities on Thursday. It was wonderful to meet everyone who was there that evening. We were boatless, but on the verge of getting Echo. We thought we would drop in on Bob and Nita only briefly. The next thing we knew, we were meeting and visiting many others, and three plus hours had passed. It was such a great introduction to the the Tugnut family!

Laurie and John, congratulations! What a surprise to read the post about buying Tradition. So exciting!

We had a great orientation with Kenny and Capt. Mac after we left you all. The hardest part was heading back to Portland/Salem. We so just wanted to cast off and spend time with the community of Ranger Tug owners in the area.

That day will come, we know.

Meanwhile, best to all. And thanks to all.

Gini & Colleen

I read all the posts - what a great time it must have been! Unfortunately, even a Ranger Tug can't be in two places at the same time (new option??), and Spinner was out for her first "big" trip to the South Sound. I joined family and friends at Filucy Bay, south end of Carr Inlet. Spent the weekend on a mooring buoy, much easier than docking LOL!

Really got to experience the local currents as both my north and south routes were via Colvos Passage and the Tacoma Narrows. It's nice to be able to push the speed up through some of those areas...

Back "home" at Elliott Bay Marina, Spinner is ready to head out again!

Robyn and I also really enjoyed the weekend, making many new friends and becoming better acquainted with some we met at Bremerton last September. As so many have said, Bob and Nita, you did an outstanding job of coordinating the get together. WOW! And the feasts! Thank you, Dave and Maureen.
I've posted a new SLO Ranger photo album from the weekend and will be adding to it as I have time.
We are so looking forward to the Desolation Sound Cruise in July. Of course, being bitten by the "cruising bug", July is just too far away. Robyn and I will be out again, possibly to the South sound, way before then.
BTW, I "did the math" after fueling at Morrison's. As advertised, we burned an average 1.4 GPH at 2200 RPM with the last tank of diesel. That included the occasional run up to 3000 to clean out the turbo. Generally, we traveled at about 6+/- kts, depending on tide/current movements (sometimes 8-9).
We're looking forward to seeing many of you out on the water. If you are coming to Bremerton or Port Orchard, please let us know. Robyn and I would be pleased to get together with you.

Bob and Nita,
Wonderfully organized weekend. Thank you for allowing us to join in for dinner on Saturday without our Tug. Glad to meet more Ranger Tug owners. We are looking forward to being more actively involved in the community.

We also wanted to extend our gratitude to Nita and Bob for all they did to make Fishermans terminal a great time. It was our first rendezvous. We made new friends and both of us are now using a different hole in our belts due to the volume of food and beverage consumed. Surprisingly the locks had little affect on our marriage even though Betty had to stand in the pouring rain to man the 50 bow line. Yes we got the wall on the large lock. I was forced to man the stern line under the canopy, out of the rain after explaining to Betty how technical stern line handling is.... Coming home, the Tacoma Narrows was like a river and I managed to nurse our 25sc up to 21.4 knots on our GPS.
Looking forward to seeing all of you on the next rendezvous or sooner!! As Betty commented, this is what we hoped for socially when we became tug owners.

The afterglow of another wonderful event with our fellow Tugnuts is hanging on here. We arrived home this afternoon after a mellow cruise from Longbranch where we spent the night before continuing home to Olympia (and, we had a lovely evening and dinner there with new friends from the cruise!) We can only say that we belong to the most wonderful group of boaters around! We can't thank Bob and Nita enough for all of the time and energy that they put in to make Fishermen's Terminal such a success. They are the best of the best! Thanks to all who made everything happen. Dave and Maureen, you stuffed us with your delicious dinner, and it is heartwarming to have you and the others who started these events and have moved on to bigger boats still show your enthusiasm and support for the group. What can we say? It is just an amazing group to be a part of. We have some 250 photos to sort and add to our blog, so it will probably take a good week to get everything organized. We'll post again when it is ready.

I am writing this while Last Call is making the final leg of her maiden voyage home to Salt Spring. Thank you, thank you, thank you......to Bob and Nita for organizing an amazing weekend, to all the sponsors for the wonderful gifts and prizes, to all the Tug Nuts and Tug Mutts for just being you!!! Thank you for sharing in our excitement in our new boat, and for welcoming us with open arms even though we are not currently Ranger Tug owners. We love you all and will make a point of keeping in touch.

Once again, congratulations Bob and Nita on a job very well done!! You have set the standard high!!
