We have had a problem with water leakage into the port side V-berth area of our 2016 Cutwater 24 whenever we had a heavy rain, since we bought the boat from Edgewater Yacht Sales, Pensacola, FL, in 2016. Until last week, all of our efforts to find and fix the leak source(s) were unsuccessful. We suspected problems from stanchion attachments or rub rail attachments, but liberal applications of marine caulk in these areas did not fix the problem. We also checked chain locker drainage, which was OK.

Finally we tried flowing water onto the cabin roof toward the sun shield that extends over the windshield. Water leakage into the boat interior was immediate! Apparently water leaked through the connection between the sun shield and the cabin roof/windshield joint, leaking into the boat interior, and finally leaking out into the port side V-berth area near the wash basin.

Rather than removing the sun shield to find and repair the underlying leak, we applied a line of marine caulk to seal the connection between the sun shield and the cabin roof. Also, we applied a line of marine caulk along the joint between the bottom of the sun shield and a support structure at the center of the windshield. After 24 hour wait for the caulk to cure, using the hose to flow water onto the cabin roof toward the sun shield did NOT cause water to leak into the boat. Today we had a heavy rain, which would have caused lots of water leakage, but now there was NO leakage. Finally success!

In case other Cutwater owners have a similar water leakage problem, I am posting this description of our struggles and eventual success, which may be helpful.
