For a 20 -30ft boat, the recoomneded size is 24" x 30" in US Ensign.

The general rule is one inch on the fly for each foot of boat length, and round up to the next larger flag. Here is the reference http://www.usps.org/f_stuff/etiquett.html#size-of-flags

I also have a 24X30 and it looks very good on stern of boat. Some fly a smaller version from the mast. I assume Ranger still provides the very nice wood flag pole for stern.
