We'll be towing our Ranger Tug down to the Tarpon Springs, Florida area to launch our Kismet and are in search of a safe place to store our truck and trailer from mid January to mid February while we're off cruising the west coast of Florida. Does anyone have any experience with storage in this area or know of a place? Any advice is welcome.

I have stored my truck at shur guard, inside controlled locked gate in the past. You may want to check those kind of business/folks out.

We are sort of doing the same thing in an R21. We found covered RV storage where you rent by the foot. Example: 50', 80', etc. We are renting a 50' covered - but open side - storage in Punta Gorda to hold our truck attached with trailer with or without the boat. You may want to try RV Storage facilities.

Sorry for drifting OT here... Creo, are you really from Laguna Vista? If so, with your 21, Herb and Wilma's 27, and Leonard and Doris' 25, these small communities in deep south Texas just may have the largest concentration of Ranger Tugs per capita in the country!!

To get back OT, if you don't find what you want with RV storage areas, check with marinas in the Florida area you want to start from. We have left our truck and trailer in marina storage on various occasions.

Happy Holidays,
Jim B.

Lisa and I are back in the water for our Florida winter cruise and looking forward to meeting up with fellow Ranger Tug owners. I wanted to give you an unexpected surprise we received for the storage of our truck and trailer that I had asked guidance of on this forum. We made arrangements to launch in Tarpon Springs and dock at Turtle Cove Marina. When we arrived at the marina we found it to be way above average. They have new floating docks, nice clean showers, free washer and dryer, gated in the evening, $1.50 per foot or $202 for a week and it's all within walking distance of Tarpon Springs sponge docks and restaurants and to top it all off they're letting us park our truck and trailer in the gated lot for 4 weeks at no additional charge. So if you're future plans revolve around Tarpon Springs this is a good place to stay and store your rig while you're cruising.

Check out Mama Maria's in town, and also National Bakery just a few doors away. I hope they are still there. Both are an easy walk from the Municipal Marina. We watched Maria's grandchild grow from in utero to toddler over several years when we were cruising. (And saw Maria mopping the floor one night at about midnight!) Great food, and the locals eat there, too.

Then again, in Tarpon Springs there is no bad food. Someone might offer Luffa "sponges" to the tourists, but poor food just isn't tolerated.

Lisa & Jim,

Glad to see you made it to Florida and are in the water. It definitely sounds like you found a great spot. Jess and I are starting out Friday morning from Rhode Island and hope to be in Ft. Pierce by Sunday the 22nd.
Looking forward to meeting you in Ft. myers in February!

Small world. John and I are on the other side of Florida diving in the Keys. A week in Key Largo, a few days in Marathon and then heading north to meet friends Paul and Stacy of Seasea, who apparently know Jim and Lisa too. We're meeting them next week to talk about - what else - Ranger Tugs! We've looked for Ranger Tugs on this side of the water, but haven't seen any yet. We're looking around and thinking about a future trip down to Florida with the tug next time.

Hope your having a great time in the Keys. When you meet up with Paul and Stacy please tell them we said hello. If your plans include being in Florida around February 6-7 there is a Ranger Tug gathering planned in Ft Myers Beach, with most boats staying at Moss Marina. This might be of interest to you and or Paul and Stacy, especially if they're considering a Ranger Tug, they'll be 8 or so in attendance. Have fun diving and who knows maybe we'll meet up here in Florida.
