For San Francisco Bay RTs and Cutwaters

especially those with a command bridge. Everyone needs a good sunset on their boat Usually it is too rough or cold on the Bay, especially in the summer. But the current spate of warm, calm weather has me venturing out after work to mess around until dark. Last night, with a bunch of friends, we cruised over to Ayala Cove on Angel Island. Usually, we stay the night on the buoys. Or if staying briefly, we chase the harbor seals off the dock and tie up. But this time we just cruised in, tied off and swung on one buoy (when overnighting you have to tie off bow and stern), and watched the sun set over Tiburon. There was only one boat there, which is how we avoided tying off bow to stern. And it was a beautiful, wind-free, warm "bottle of wine, crust of bread, and thou" kind of evening.

Highly recommended on a weeknight when no one is there. Especially if the weather is warm and the gray monster (fog bank) does not creep in and get you. And best if you time your sunset departure from Ayala Cove on a flood tide, which knocks down the infamous San Francisco short period chop.

It was very nice on the Bay on Sunday!

We were out the gate headed for Duxbury on Sunday. Absolutely beautiful day on the water. We were even able to wrangle a salmon into the boat. Overall a very slow bite but an amazing day on the water. Not very often that it is shorts and t-shirt weather outside of the golden gate and as calm as a lake.
