We often want to keep the forward hatch open for ventilation - we do not have A/C. It would be great to keep it open in the rain and get some shade when sunny. So....we had the local awning shop (lensawningcanvas.com) build us an awning for about $350. A pole in the center creates and maintains a peak for drainage. It hooks to the bow rail with captive ball/bungee cords. Twist latches secure it to the top of the eyebrow. There is a d-ring attached to the underside near the pole grommet so that if we need to capture fresh water, we can pull down on the d-ring and put a bucket underneath.

It is made of the same material and color as the aft awning.

View from outside

View from inside - visibility is good enough to drive the boat if necessary - moving berths, etc.

Fair winds...

It looks very good! Nice idea!

I noticed you have a single solar power panel on the cargo bars. Do you leave that up all the time? Towing? And what battery do you keep talked off? I bought A complete set up from amazon as recommended by a fellow Tug Nutter

Yes - the solar panel is "permanently" mounted. It stays put all the time, even when trailering.

Foredeck awning deployed for real. Worked better than anticipated. Kept the rain out and promoted good air flow down the fore-hatch.
