fresh water engine rinse

We have a 2014 31CB Volvo D4
Do you know anyone that makes a raw water filter cap that has a garden hose adapter so its easier to run some salt away after each use.

You need to be careful doing that. If you were to force more water in than the engine can expel, it could back up into the exhaust valves and cause a hydro lock in the cylinders. Just remove the lid and let the fresh water run in. Any overflow will just get pumped out by the bilge pump. Nothing wrong with getting some fresh water in the bilge to clean things out there as well.

I made an alternative cap for raw water filter housing out of 1/2” clear acrylic with a quick connect hose connection. The hose has a valve on the end to regulate the flow of water into housing. Also the valve that allows water into the boat can be opened or closed partially to control flow into housing as well ( water flows out if over pressured while on the hard). The clear plastic and a flash light lets you see what is happening in the housing to not over pressure and verify flow into engine. Another hole in plastic cap with A fitting would allow pouring in salt away at whatever rate you think is “right”. Works well and hAve been using it for years now with no problem. Can be made with simple tools and fittings. Tap for quick connect most complex part. Borrow one from a neighbor.
