I have a 2013 C26. Recently the freshwater water pump short cycles on hot only. As you move the mixer at the faucets more center short cycle goes away. Im going to check to see if I can find any obstructions in the lines on hot water side but was curious if anyone has had this issue.

Thanks

mmm, I could be wrong, but I would think short cycles (i.e. frequent repeated pump activation to maintain pressure) would mean your hot water tank is losing pressure somehow. Any visible leaks anywhere? GF

My understanding from the original post is that it pulses on and off when a hot water faucet is turned on. That doesn't indicate a leak, but rather not enough water flow to keep the pump running.

I did notice a very small leak at a hose connection on hot water tank. I tightened clamp which stopped the leak but the pump is still short cycling.

Thanks

Look for the short cycle cold vs. hot behavior at the galley sink and then the head sink. If both have the same issue only with the hot water then the obstruction is likely in a common line or the hot water tank.

I have found that sometimes there are air locks that cause the cycling. Go to your hot water tanks and turn the drain valve to bleed air and a little water. It has resolved my issues.

I'm heading to the boat tonight. It does behave the same at galley and head. First thing I am going to do is bleed the hot water tank. I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks for all the responses.

This is condition is always there but increased when faucet screens are partially plugged. The cold water line feeds the hot water tank. There is a check valve installed at the hot water tank inlet. This stops the hot water from back feeding the cold water line. When only on hot water there is a slightly higher water restriction (check valve). When you move the faucet to mix hot and cold restriction is less and the pump runs continuous. When only on cold the flow is not restricted by the check valve. Now if your faucet screens are fouled at all there will be added restriction to both cold and hot but hot will be more noticeable. If one faucet is restricted both head and galley will be. The galley seems to get used more so it is usually the worst. I clean the screens once a year. it only takes a couple of minutes to do. It could be many other things but start with the easy first.

I finally got to the boat this weekend. I found quite a bit of debris in the galley faucet head. Disassembled head and cleaned which seems to have fixed the issue.

Thanks for all the help

We regularly get sand like particles accumulating in the galley faucet. After cleaning them out stops working, I just replace the faucet head with a new one. About every two years. At $14 each, I consider them a consumable.
