Hello All,

A couple questions:
1.About how long does it take for the plastic taste to dissipate from the water tank... does it just take repeated flushings?

2. Maybe a dumb question/maybe not: How do I know how much water remains of the 30 gallons in my R25SC? I'm not even sure where the tank is!

Thanks!

IMO, do not drink the water from the tank. You could get sick. There are filters that work The Seagull is one. They are a little pricey, around $400. Bring bottled water. A couple of gallons will last us at least a long weekend. The filter has to remove bacteria and other buggy things, not just particles. The water tank is under the floor about mid ship, good luck trying to see how much water you have. My R27 has a gauge, the R25 does not?

If you have flushed it well and shocked it with chlorine and still have the plastic taste, put 750 ml of vodka in the tank and take a turn around the bay. It works miracles.

We used our water from our 27. We use the water from the tank in our motorhome. We just shock it occasionally if it sits for more than a month without use. Let's see 7 years in the motorhome, 3 years in the 27....and no one is sick yet.

We could not get the plastic taste out of our new 31 until Bruce Moore of Moon Shadow talked to the people at Marine Hardware in Anacortes. They said they always put 750 ml of vodka at the start of every season. I would still put a heavy dose of chlorine and flush the tank before putting the vodka in and drinking it.

Shocking the system works well as described above. After that I usually will put about 1 teaspoon of Clorox in a fill up. We usually drink bottled water, purchased by the gallon, but do drink to tank water occasionally. When on the hook my rule of thumb is we use about 7 gallons of water per day. Consumption of water is something related to each individual so you will have to use your water a while to get an approximate consumption rate.
