Selling our 490 30,000 pound Meridian to downsize to an easier to handle boat.
Focused now on a trailerable, either a cutwater 30 sedan with a 435 Volvo, a Ranger 29 with a D4 Volvo or the Ranger 31 with a D4 Volvo, stock engines as I understand.
Due to the distance that we have to travel with limited fuel stops, west coast Canada, I was wondering if any subscribers can give me fuel consumption curves for any of the above.
We would prefer to cruise at around 14 - 15 knots and would like to know first hand, loaded boat fuel usage at mainly this speed but would prefer any other information
We had considered twin outboards but it appears that for better mpg, you need to run these boats around 30mph, which is too fast for northwest debris filled waters

Traveling in Newport RI ocean area with app. three ft waves at 10.5 mph our c30 435 HP burns 5.6 gal/h at 1.6 nm/ gal, I don't know if that is good this is my first power boat. 15 mph whould make a big difference, 22gal/h full throttle about 30 mph on a good day. This boat can take some tuff weather, and you stay dry.

Hi, the Ranger 31 Sedan will get about 1.0 to 1.5 nm per gallon if you are cruising at 15 to 16 knots. The lower number reflects opposing wind or currents; the higher number would be neutral conditions. The fuel burn will also be affected by the condition of the bottom and how heavily loaded your boat is.

I have spent the last three seasons with an R31 Sedan, and do try to travel more economically when possible ( under 9 knots). The boat will certainly easily achieve the speeds you asked about, it just burns more fuel.

I had a 125 nm day last summer, very heavily loaded. I traveled at 18 to 19 knots. My burn rate was about 1.1 to 1.3 nm per gallon.

By the way, if you are looking for a great deal on a VERY well equipped 31, my boat is currently listed for sale in Anacortes at $239K (I bought a large boat in February)

By the way, if you have the time and inclination, the 31 runs really economically at hull speed 🙂
