I've got an 08 25' and it is time to change the filter. I WILL NOT come off, to the point where the removal wrench is wrecked. Any suggestions?

I ended up with three different types of wrenches before it finally broke loose ....
take a dock line and feed it down from inside the cabin step around one of the heavy brackets about 90 degrees to the fuel filter and tie it to the handel of one of your wrenches
then lay down and position that wrench so that it grips when your helper pulls hard from inside the cabin ,then take a second wrench for you to use and both of you can go after it at the same time ....

Well, this is a fine mess the factory has gotten us into... I'm doing the 100 hour in bits-n-pieces (not a hundred hours yet) and the fuel filter was sorta planned for the end of this boating season... Now I have something to look forward to!

i would suggest getting a good pair of channel locks and a strong buddy and let him give it a try. the filter might not look the best afterwards but your replacing it anyways.

As an old mechanic let me share with the list the "last resort" method...
Use a drill motor with a large bit, say 1/2", and drill sideways all the way through the filter... Then take a large drift, passing it through both of the holes in the wall of the filter can, as a torque bar and pull hard... Sometimes you need to add a length of pipe onto the handle of the drift for increased leverage...
Remember, this is last resort because if you cannot get the filter off with this method, you are well and truly "dead in the water"...
If you don't know what a DRIFT is, hit delete and move on this method is not for you...

I have a tool made for spin on filters that looks kinda like a vice grip but is adjustable for spin on filters.
Yep you will wreck the filter but it has not failed yet. Another tool from Harbor Freight and was low cost.

I changed mine on the trailer and also could not remove the filter. I just disconnected the fuel lines and removed the whole filter assembly (only 2 or 4 bolts, don't remember for sure). It was way easier to remove on the bench with my big vise holding the base. I am hoping without the Cummins white paint over everything it will come off easier next time. I also did not torque it on as hard as it was previously.
