Any hints on how to get to the sending unit for the fuel gauge on an R 25 classic? Mine is pegging to full as soon as the key is turned on. I've got THE Yanmar 75 horse. Thanks!Alan

There is a round inspection port about 4 inches in diameter in the floor just inside the door. The fuel connections to the tank are under it. I presume the sending unit is also accessible thru that port. In the earlier models, 2007 for instance, the factory did not install the inspection port. You gotta cut a hole in the floor and install your own. If you find you need to cut a hole in the floor, I would ask adivce from the factory regarding where to make the hole.

I can not speak to vessels other than my MY 2009. The fuel gauge sending unit on our particular tug is not accessible through the inspection panel at the rear step. That particular panel opens up to the fuel pickup and return lines. The sending unit I believe is forward about another 2-3 feet; therefore, no access. I have the same problem and have had for several years, but it certainly looks good always full or only us a couple of gallons. Fuel tracking, I use the Garmin display which is fairly accurate (have to remember to reset when adding fuel) and also pencil calculations. If we allow the tank to run low and get into choppy water the gauge will start to function as the float will free up.

Maybe it is the float that is sticking and causing the problem.
