fuel hose on racor R12P filter

This is a really dumb question. I'm putting on a fuel shutoff valve near the racor filter. Since no access to the fuel tank to check hose connections I noticed that the filter has arrows for the hoses but I can't determine which is the main fuel hose.
There are 2 connections for the fuel hoses both pointing in and 1 for out. Which is the main fuel hose coming from the tank? So I got 2 fuel hoses attached to the filter but can't determine which one I should attach the fuel shutoff valve to.
I know it's silly but I can't find anywhere a diagram for hose connection. 2008 R25 yanmar 110.

Can you trace both and see where they go or come from? The one from the main tank should go around to the starboard side and enter the cabin step. The other hose may come from the engine. I believe that one is the return line for unused fuel from the engine. Similar to fuel polishing.
