Fuel on board?

Just picked up our new '19 R27. Have questions about when to refuel...and how much fuel to add. Can't locate a F.O.B. indication. Is it in the Garmin 7612, or the Yamaha engine gage? Thanks.

Fuel levels should show up on both the Yamaha engine gauge and the Garmin Chartplotter. On the chartplotter you have to dig into the engine page. The Yamaha gauge it should show up on the main page. The dealer should have calibrated the fuel amounts and the Yamaha gauge will show a bar graph of fuel amount as well as a digital readout of gallons remaining. Sounds like your dealer didn't do a very good delivery as these should have been pointed out to you.
Fuel tank holds 150 gallons, I won't let mine get below 30 gallons remaining.

We fill our RT-25 Classic’s diesel tank to the top at a nearby gas station before launching each cruising trip. That way we don’t have to worry about any burped fuel spilling into the water. The occasional drop or two of diesel burped on the gas station’s concrete is easily cleaned up with paper towels.
With the tank completely full, that starts our fuel calibration for the trip! Once underway we only fill up to 90% of tank capacity to prevent spilling.

My Yanmar has a fuel gauge (analog) on one of the control panel pages. The sensor is in the aft end of the tank. However it is only readable when we are stopped. When under way, the fuel sloshes to the back. It reads 100% pretty much all the time.
However the Yanmar computer keeps very accurate track of fuel used and feeds that info to the Garmin. It is displayed as one of my marginal details continuously on the Nav screen. When I fill up I have found the Garmin accurate to a SMALL fraction of a gallon.

Note: It does not keep track of generator use nor does it know if someone stole, say, 50-60 gallons. So, it is good to occasionally check the fuel tank sensor against the Garmin display before you start up and go too far.

There is a fuel gauge on the Yamaha display screen. It’s a choice you can make for what info you want displayed. You can set up at least two screens that you can then toggle back and forth depending on your needs. Also on the garmin as a digital fuel gauge. Again, one of the choices on the main menu.
My routine is to use the Yamaha screen. Use the menus button and choose trip it will tell you how much fuel you’ve used on a current trip. I reset that trip meter and input how much gas I add when I top off the tank.
Probably a superstition, but I just trust that meter most. Trick is to always fill tank and always reset the trip meter every time you go to the fuel dock.
