I am getting a fuel pressure sensor warning, which indicates electrical failure. It automatically cuts the engine back to somewhere around 2400 RPMs. If I go over that, the warning will come on again. It goes off when I cut off the engine but until then I see a yellow triangle. Does anyone have this issue who could help out here. What do I need to do?

Hi there,

This could be caused by several issues, the most common being actual low pressure at the fuel rail or a sensor failure. Unfortunately the only way to know for sure is to contact a local Volvo dealer who would be able to do some diagnosis. That person would use a scan tool to take a closer look at the trouble codes generated by the system and go from there. Hope this helps get you started.

Cheers,

Ralf

Thanks. I’ll have it checked out.

Turns out it was contaminated fuel. The pickup tube has a screen which was almost entirely clogged. I had checked and replaced the fuel filters but saw no contamination. But it was all at that screen. Volvo mechanics did not believe the screen was needed and removed it.

We had the exact same problem on our 2019 R31 CB. The screen at the end of the pick up tube was clogged with algae or debris. Removing the nut holding this tube in place was a bit of a challenge however once I was able to borrow the correct wrench I removed the tube and cleared the debris.
