Three years ago I bought my Ranger 29. It is a 2014. When I bought the boat I was told it had a 150 gallon fuel tank, thus I have been setting the gps fuel gauge at 150 after filling. Looking at the specs on the website it says the fuel tank is 120 gallons. I have the Volvo engine. I am wondering which is correct.

I have an old performance spec sheet for all models in 2014. It lists the fuel capacity for the R29 at 150 gallons. Perhaps the newer R29 is now 120 gallons?

There may be a label on top of the fuel tank. The RT spec sheets all reference the RT27-OB as 150 gallon, but the tank label on top of the tank says 147gallon, as an example.

I have understood the capacity of my fuel tank to be 180g, and the label on it does in fact say it is (2016 C30-CB). I use digital gauge on my Volvo display (which is connected to an analog sender), and this also feeds into my Garmin. I rely on those numbers and just don't let my fuel drop below 25% based on 180, and i've always been fine. I don't do the fill up / add fuel thing in the Garmin chartplotter.

On our 2010 R29 there are two tanks, one 120 gallons for the main engine and a30 gallon for the generator. There is a transfer pump to add the 30 gallons to the 120 gallon tank for and overall capacity of 150 gallons.

Owners manual for the “new” style R 29 states 145 gallons.

Thanks I am going with the 150 but as mentioned will fill up unless unable with more than 50 gallons remaining.

Hi there,

Unfortunately, I no longer have the bill of materials for the Classic R29, but if yours is the newer 29 (late 2014) then you have the 145-gallon tank.

Cheers,

Ralf
