Full Canvas Cover E21

[Tug-N-Hug]

Does anyone know if a full canvas storage cover is available for the E21? Preferably, factory designed or user "proven" by other E21 owners. A local canvas shop quoted but I was not confident that what was proposed would work well. I need a nice cover to protect the boat when stored outside and not in use. I don't want to be the experiment 😀 Thanks!

Evening Tug-N-Hug,

I was never able to find a "stock" storage cover, probably due to the relatively small number of R-21ECs out there. I ended-up having a local canvas shop fabricate a custom cover (Sunbrella) that includes the swim platform & rail and extends to the waterline stripe (stored on trailer) to protect the red hull. Cost was $1900 two years ago; money well spent.

Take a look in the pictures of our winter cover on "Tuglet" (you can search "Tuglet" in owners pictures)
We are located on New Hampshire's Lake Winnipesaukee and winter over in Massachusetts.
Hence, Snow load was a concern in the purchase. It has pockets for 2x4's, a zippered door and is custom designed for the R21.
I am very pleased with it. I believe we purchased it in 2012 and is still holding up extremely well. Many years still left.
We chose "Fisher Canvas" in New Jersey. They made a pattern and will still have it.
They have a great web site explaining their covers. I do not remember the cost but 1200 (in 2012) comes to mind. Great people to do business with.
I understand King Canvas also has a winter cover and they are makers of the Factory canvas pieces (we just got a new Surry cover for Tuglet from them).
I agree with "CN" a cover, for us, is money well spent.

I can vouch for the Fisher Canvas cover for my 2009 R21-EC. Put it on last year and it survived a few feet of snow over the Maine winter, not to mention the big wind-storm we had a month ago (65mph+ gusts). The cover was easy to put back on this fall, and even had to trailer in with the cover on a short distance. Its been holding up great..

The factory was also very helpful during my initial "installation" as I took pictures and they commented on where I might tighten it up. When I asked about trailering it they got right back to me. (FYI - they do not design the cover for transport, but it will hold up ok at low speeds and short distances. Make sure the end around the swim platform is cinched tight because that's the greatest pressure area)

All comments were very helpful! This is exactly what I was looking for. The picture shot in 2012 of the first install is the type of coverage I was hoping for. I plan to contact "Fisher Canvas" in New Jersey after the first of the year.
