The 5 amp fuse that protects the shower sump in my C28 keeps blowing. Any ideas!

The fuse in my R-27 is 20 amp.

Shower sump in the C26 and C28 is a 5 amp fuse. You may want to pull the lid off the sump pan and check to see if there is junk caught in the impeller. This is a chore if you have not done this yet. I had to move the Transducer to move the sump enough to get the back screws off. I did not reinstall the two screws that go under the floor. Once you have done this and remount the transducer in a location that increases the clearance for sump removal it is not bad as bad to clean.

Have the same issue on my C28. The fuse blows immediately. I cleaned the sump with vinegar but that didn’t help. Then just for grins I put in a 7.5 amp fuse and it worked perfectly. I’m thinking that the pump is possibly failing but has been hardly used

The 7.5 amp should not cause an issue to the 14 gauge wire it will handle more than 7.5 amps. The 5 amp is protecting the pump motor and should be the fuse used. The fuse is protecting the pump motor from an over load. The rated amp draw for the Rule 800 is just below 3 amps. Did you check the wire connections associated with the pump and float? A loose or corroded connection can cause increased resistance and possibly increase the amperage draw. The pump is also used for the condensate drain for the air unit. If you use the air unit on board the pump does get used more than you think. I find that bilge pumps life expectancy is very unpredictable. Some last for years and some make it a year or two. In my opinion this is for all brands !!
