Fusion NRX remote not powering on

CB31 - fusion remote NRX-300 wont power up. the head unit is fine and I've 3x checked, the "NRX POWER" is selected and checked.

what else / how else to troubleshoot? it used to work a few months ago.

Same happened to me - try a reboot of main unit by holding the power button down for 10 seconds. If that doesn’t work power down the entire boat and turn off the house battery switches. Then power back up, worked for me. Good luck.

Hi bsaitz,

As TMAX31 mentioned, resetting the unit should work. We haven't had many issues with these really, but let us know if that does not resolve the issue.

hey folks

did a few resets (hold down power for 6 seconds) - to no avail. remote still dead

would a factory reset be next? other ways to troubleshoot?

When you do the reset Hold the power button for 10 seconds. The fusion turns off and does a complete reset and turns back on. After the reset you have to go into the menu and turn the NRX back on. If you did this and the NRX is on you should check to see if you have power to the remote.

NRX power should be OFF. that selector is for if the unit needs to get power from the head unit, which it does not, since its getting power from the NEMA 2000 connection. You can fry your remote that way, so beware of that. They disclose this in the manual.

thanks, i have it in off. it may have been on, I don't recall before the reset. not sure what else to do to troubleshoot, hope remote isn't fried

Have you tried checking your NEMA 2000 connections? There's 3 to look at:

1) the connector from the NRX to the NEMA 2000 extension cable. Check this by removing the screws behind the 2 side plates on the NRX and pulling it away from the fiberglass (gently). You'll see a 6ft or so cable coming from the back of the NRX, and it should be connecting to a NEMA extension cable - check that.

2) that extension cable most likely runs to a NEMA 2000 T somewhere near where your main fusion stereo is - it does in my 2016 C-30CB, at least. Check the T. The T then feeds to your NEMA backbone, and also another line into the back of your Fusion stereo. I'd check all of these connections. If still nothing, Garmin Support is pretty helpful at troubleshooting. If it's dead, the NRX 300 remote is about $185 on amazon, so not the worst of BOAT expenses... only 2/10th of a boat buck. 😉 I just replaced my dead NRX 200 with a 300, and it was about a 10 minute upgrade project.
