My only surviving sibling, my sister, is fond of the term "baby steps". I consider this my first baby step toward my goal of owning a Ranger Tug R25. I have long dreamed of exploring the central US rivers and (dare I say) the Great Lakes on my own cruiser. I believe the R25 is the boat for the job. Reaching my goal will be a lot of hard work but I am on my way. I'm glad to be aboard "TugNuts".

Welcome Dave. This a good place to begin your journey.

Gene

Thank you Gene. As I mentioned in my initial post, I have only one surviving sibling. I lost my brother suddenly four years ago. In addition to everything else he was my best boating buddy. Some of the best times of my life were on the water with him. My R 25 will be named for him, The Kenneth Wayne.
More on this subject later>

The Ranger 25 is proven craft for that trip and several owners have done the entire Great Circle Loop in their Ranger 25. We took the Laurie Ann on a 1,600 mile in the midwest rivers over 90 days that ended in Mobile Bay, Alabama. I would highly recommend the trip, especially that section in the fall months.

The Laurie Ann will likely be on the east coast beginning in late April to resume the Great Circle Loop and go north on the ICW to Washington DC, New York City, the Hudson River, the Erie Canal and transit the Great Lakes over the summer. We can hardly wait!

Thanks John & Laurie. I read your article on the link from Rangers web site. I hope to follow in your wake someday. Excellent writing. Thanks again.

Congratulations on your decision, and welcome to the community. Our R25 is our first boat. We've been very happy with our decision, with the factory team, and with the world of experience which is constantly opening up for us. The positive reinforcement was both immediate, and ongoing.

Cheers,

Bruce

DW:
I also am in the market for a R-25 and joined Tug Nuts in the Fall. I also have a SeaRay 210BR and plan on cruising the Great Lakes, St Lawrence Seaway and Erie Canal. Good luck with your searching. My wife and I first "touched" a R-25 at the Atlanta Boat Show a couple weeks ago. What a nice boat!

John and Laurie,

Although I keep my boats in Mystic CT, I live about 11 miles from the Eastern shore of the Hudson River.
About 110 miles north of NYC. Closest big town is Kingston NY ( west side of the river).
The area I live in is known as "The Hudson Valley".
If you find yourself in the area with some time on your hands, drop me an email, Chris@fx360.net
I would love to see your Ranger. I could also give you guys a little tour of the Valley.
I work from home, from 2am EST till about noon ( its a long story), so weekdays work great for me. Also on weekends, I like to be in Mystic 🙂
The only thing that might be a problem, is that I hope to be picking up my new Ranger in Rockhall MD late April.
We'll see.

Chris

John and Laurie,

We live near Sandy Hook and consider Raritan Bay, NY Harbor, the Hudson and East River our boating grounds. Let us know when you are in the area too, if you want. I can fill you in on the great places to stay and to anchor. You can contact me at doug.kersten@hotmail.com

Chris,

We go up the Hudson at least once every year. We'll Drop you a line if we do. We bought our R25 from Coeyman's Landing Marina in late 2007 (Hull #6), which isn't too far from you, I think. Great people there.

Hi Doug,
Coeyman's is about 12 north as the Crow flies.

I'll be passing Sandy Hook, just don't know how far offshore yet.
If the weather at the time cooperates I'll run from Cape May to Montauk and hang a left. otherwise I'll be making a left at Sandy Hook and come up and out through L I Sound. Made the trip several times. This will be the first time in my own boat.

Chris

Chris and Doug,

Thank you, Thank you for your kind offer and information about the area. We have copied your contact information and will contact you in late spring or early summer as we transit your area.
