FYI...
Been looking at these for awhile. They are just the right size (diameter-wise) for my use. They are 50% off at this time... and Daughter #2 took the opportunity to order them/it for my upcoming birthday. 😀 They will hit my doorstep in a weeks time and then shortly after will get installed. I will remove them from their wooden base plate before installing them.

IMO... this is a good deal at $89.99.

Thanks for the TIp...just ordered it for $103 with shipping!

Thanks. Great deal and I have really wanted this. AllN

Mine arrived today. They are just what I expected. The battery is a small N type for the clock. The product carries a lifetime warranty. The face plates open via two thumb turnkeys. The brass looks lovely and very nautical. I will either mount them as they came embedded in the nice Mahogany base plate onto my pre-made panel I made to cover the center opening above the windshield glass or will remove them and mount them separately on the pre-made panel.

Great deal IMO. 🙂

We received ours this week...very nice for the price. They are currently on our mantel awaiting the purchase of a ranger tug ;-)

In order to install this as shown in the photos I had to trim off about 1" lengthwise of the Mahogany finished base using my table saw. I also removed all three units and rotated them 180º. When doing this, the pre-drilled holes for all the screws lined up nicely except for 3 and that was taken care of without too much ado.

My first thought was to remove all three Porthole brass units and install them directly onto my wood panel covering the center opening as seen in the photos. However, that was not an easy task as the holes needed were 2.5" for the two outside ones and 2.125" for the center one (the clock). In addition to these holes there's a outer shelf that is about 1/4" more than the main hole for the clock. Plus, the needed thickness was around 1" and my wood panel was barely 1/2" thick. So I abandoned doing this and simply found a way to mount the unit directly onto my 1/2" thick panel. This was easy by using two 1-1/4" screws screwed in from the back of my panel and into the backside of the Mahogany base.

The only issue I'm faced with is that in order to change the Clock's battery and/or change its time I will need to unscrew the two pieces to get to the backside of the Clock. No big deal really, but just a warning to others if they do something similar to what I ended up doing.

Why don't you drill a hole behind the clock large enough to change battery and set time. At least large enough to set time as that has to be done more often.

Yes I had thought about doing that as you've described. However, I did not want to put such a large hole in the cover panel I had recently made. As I have it at this time I remove just two screws and then have access to all three of the Porthole brass units. It's not just the Clock adjustments that need to be accessed but also the other two... but far less often.

Thanks for your suggestion though... 🙂
