Wow! Was surprised to see how costly these are. Is there a less expensive source?
We hope to move from Annapolis to Punta Gorda, Florida , once our house sells. The chip that shows Florida's West coast is very pricey.

Thanks,

Check out Ebay. You can find brand new factory sealed cards pretty cheap, starting bid from a couple of sellers has been less than $50.00.
For the FL South West Coast you want VUS011R, VUS010R is SE FL but also covers some of the West Coast. The Garmin web site shows the areas covered.
I'd stay away from any "re-furbished" cards on Ebay. I believe these cards are being copied.
They are always listed so don't bother getting into a bidding war, if you loose wait a couple of days and another one will be listed.

On my last purchase from Garmin I saw that they tie your chip to the GPS serial number, so make sure what you buy does not have an issue. As for the G2 Vision, in my opinion, don't waste your money. I have both for Florida and when you do the auto route, which is why I bought the chip, it always wants to take you on the outside if you are in the ICW. The pictures it offers are fluff. Save your money and put in your route manually and you will be just as happy.

Just Limin',

In the winter, I cruise the coasts of Florida, so I bought the Bluechart g2 Vision card. For the same reasons that Mike Rizzo mentioned, it is a waste of money. The Garmin built-in charts provide all you need for coastal cruising of Florida.

I agree with Mike and Dale, not worth it

Thanks gentlemen. Will save my money, for moving expenses...

This is very interesting feedback as I've been looking at purchasing the G2 Vision card for Canada (inside and outside Vancouver Island VCA500L). I'm curious if users in the Northwest find this purchase at $300+ worth the costs.

I am very happy with mine. I have all the cards to get to SE Alaska. (3) from Puget Sound...actually from California although I do not intend to go there. As far as others have stated about it only routing them offshore, I find that if you set the shoreline to closest, depths to minimum i.e. 6 feet or so. It will route you in tighter places.. not always, but most times. Do not pay full price I have been lucky to find them at around $100 on EBay. Just use a seller with lots of positive feedback.

I bought a used one on Amazon for $75. It came no problems and works great, I love the "guide me" and "mariners eye" features.
