Do any of you Tugnuts use Gallery Marine in Seattle?

I used Gallery Marine in Seattle for a couple of years for work on my Yanmar. The mechanic was excellent, professional, and very conscientious. They replaced my turbo charger and all related hardware, water pump, and a bunch of electrical work. Our relationship was very good including communications and billing.

Then one day... The mechanic came out to change a split hose and clean an electrical connection. The hose and the electrical connection were both very accessible and took less than 45 minutes to finish the job. Then the bill came - $744.85. Gallery Marine charged me 5 hours of labor at $115/hour plus the $35.05 cost of the hose.

After contacting Gallery Marine's manager, he stated that the bill included 4.25 hours of travel time. It's a 40 minute drive from Gallery Marine to my boat. They would not adjust the billing.

Haven't used them since.

I had the same experience as Cessna172 when I used the Volvo Penta authorized service, Coastal Marine in Seattle.

172, sorry for the bad experience....

The reason I posted this question is I have $150 in gift certificates for Gallery Marine. I won them at the 2019 Roche Harbor rendezvous. I have contacted them several times, but I am an east coast boater and will not be able to use these gift certificates as Gallery Marine is a service provider, not retail. I would like to gift these to anybody that will use them. I swear this is not a Nigerian prince scam 🙂 . If you will use them, send me a PM so I can send these to you.

Bryan

Gift certificates have been claimed. Thanks for the interest.
