I purchased my 2018 C-28 used. I was told there was a Galvanic Isolator installed but it's the one piece of equipment I can't find. I only have experience with the older models that had a status panel you could see. Does anyone know where I should look on my boat to verify it has one?

They are typically installed close to the boats shore power connectors and typically an after market item, at least they have been on our 2 RT’s.

I agree with Jim, typically an after market item. We just had one installed on our 2015 C28 about one foot away from the shore power plug. That would be the first place I would look on your boat.

I believe on your boat your ELCI breaker is in the storage underneath the stove. If the galvanic isolator was installed after the fact, my guess is that would be where they mounted the unit. If not there then it should be just after the shore power outlet on the boat.

Happy Hunting!

A common area for a dry installation and the ability to install the isolator without cutting the 120V 10/2 boat cable is in the location that Kenny stated.I am posting a photo of this location with the Promainer 30 amp isolator I installed. gallery2.php?g2_itemId=72328&g2_imageViewsIndex=1

Thanks for the help, I bought one to have installed on. 2019 Cutwater 28, reading this I take away should before the main breaker under the comb/micro spliced in before the main breaker?

Process I am guessing pull the microwave remove the panel support the micro, mount above the breaker cut the ground and attach there like the picture in the previous post?

Thanks again please advise

I am not sure I am correctly interpreting what you have written, so let me try to clarify.

Your shore power cable has three wires which are typically referred to as hot, neutral, and ground. Hot will carry 110v AC relative to the neutral (which is also called the return by some). Ground is used to establish a reference to marina ground. The neutral and ground are connected together at the marina source to establish the neutral, and should not be connected together anywhere else while you are on shore power. The isolator is installed in the ground wire path, not in the hot or neutral path. To install the isolator you connect a wire from the ground post of the shore power input connector to the isolator, then connect the output of the isolator to the original ground wire from the shore power connector. No breakers in the path except if the isolator itself has over current protection.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks I get that was looking for direction where it should be on a Cutwater C28
Thank you your explanation was great
