Is this standard equipment on RT/CW boats? Is it recommended/needed?

Quick answers: No they are not standard. Yes/No depending........

I found it a really good investment but I would do a search and read the various posts on this one.

Thanks. I'm in fresh water so that's probably a -1 for needed, but not sure about how much stray current there is in Portage Bay. Something i'll consider - thanks for the pointer.

I didn’t request it, but it was installed on my 2021 R-23 at he factory. Not sure if that makes it “standard” or not.

The Ranger Tug web site shows it standard on some models, but not most of them. A galvanic isolator is not difficult to install and not extremely expensive so there seems to be no reason not to add it to your early list of upgrades to gain the protection against corrosion that it provides.

Thanks. I ordered the basic ProMariner 30a one. seems sufficient.

It is standard on the R25OB, 2022 model. It was not on our prior 2019 R29S, but we added it. In my opinion I would not be without one, it adds an element of safety to a boat.

I understand that installing the GI is a simple task, but where and how to mount it seems more challenging. Any suggestions for where to install on a C-242 or R-23? We have a “new to us” 2017 C-242 kept in saltwater.

This is the factory location on my R-23. Note the mounting board fiberglassed into the transom.
