Garmin 5.9 Update

Thanks for all of your help with my chip problem. I stopped by Staples yesterday and asked why my chip wouldn't work. They said my chip was for a newer computer and I needed to purchase an adapter in order for the chip to work with my old, outdated computer. Does this mean I need to purchase a new computer?????? It is only five years old.

Of course you're supposed to buy a new computer. 😱 Remember our national anthem, "Planned Obsolence"? (sp) 🙁

My desk top computer is at least 10 years old; it was provided by my former company so I could work at home. Then, at retirement, it was given to me. Great software, but not enough computing power and storage to handle my photo files. My laptop takes care of that, but it's almost three years old and the MS software has gone thru a new cycle. As a deputy CEO and CFO, I complained about having to upgrade and update all the time, to no avail. :cry:

I have two older Garmin GPS units that need the software updated. We're traveling in Nova Scotia. For the most part the road info is OK, but food and lodging files are worthless. Way, way too old. At least the software on my Garmin in the tug is up to date. 🙂
