I thought this might be helpful to those who are still using the 5212 that came with many of our boats. Here is a list of devices that I have upgraded, added or replaced on my boat that have worked perfectly with the older 5212. My 5212 does everything I need and hope it has many more years of service.
Garmin Radar GMR 18 XHD Plug and play, all features work
Garmin GPS 24xd. Menu calibration not available on 5212 , must use basic calibration. Unit has heading sensor so MARPA function on radar works.
Em-Trak B924 B Class Transceiver
Yacht Devices YDEG-04 Engine Gateway. Volvo failed. This gateway gives you the option to use in tank resistive float sender to monitor fuel levels along with the calculated fuel remaining. Calibration is much better with 12 calibration points. I have just about got the Volvo gauge dialed in as well.
